I know the challenges facing leaders in social impact fields — higher ed, nonprofits, healthcare, public health — because I’ve been there.
After years of training, publishing and leading research, I was overseeing a multi-million-dollar initiative and a team of 20. We were serving thousands of youth and families. It was purpose-filled work that was challenging and rewarding.
My approach to work was successful until massive disruption forced a change. Our budget was slashed. New leadership had new priorities.
My colleagues and I persisted, but struggled to leave work at work. Impatience and irritation flared in meetings and interactions. Turnover cascaded across the organization and softened already low morale.
We were at a tipping point. We needed a different way of seeing and engaging with our work.
We needed to RISE.
The RISE framework is born of my 20+ yrs of experience in management, advanced training in communications, psychology and behavior change and hundreds of hours coaching leaders and professionals through tough seasons of change.
My programs, workshops and talks are informed by peer-reviewed research, data-driven science, and training from top institutions. I’m a published author and hold a doctorate from the University of Michigan. My insights and work have been featured at UCLA, USC, Pepperdine University, among others.
